Calfornia Grill Paris Disney

Dan speaks with the chef at the California Grill
We had pre booked all our restaurants which paid off, it was a busy Saturday night at the C.G. our server was Joachim and we ordered, For J: Oeuf en Coque ( translation: egg in a glass!literally) This creation on a plate was served in layers, first, at the bottom, a layer of egg white, not solid but cooked ( just), then a layer of egg yolk and finally a layer of sea urchin foam. This was served with cayenne pepper and butter on toast sticks. It was divine, basically the best egg and soldiers in the world! Main course was : Sea Bass topped with Parma ham, a classic combo beautifully executed and served with endive finished with a crevette sauce, which was fairly rich with a hint of sweetness, perfect. We had ordered a bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc as we both had fish, which was excellent and not over priced. D had : Noix st Jacques ( scallops in lemongrass and chili in filo) served with noodles, nice says Dan. His main was Dover sole with sauteed new potatoes and red onions with chantrelles topped with a mushroom foam, exquisite, perfectly balanced. I had already videoed the kitchen which is behind glass, but Dan went to have a look and our waiter enquired if he would like to tour the kitchen. Bien Sur! The chef told Dan exactly how and what went into his dishes and that he had worked for the Roux Bros in London. Dan was presented with some handmade chocolates made by the C.G.'s pastry chef( we're not allowed to eat them!). We had to have pud so D had the smoothest, richest, darkest Tanzanian chocolate tart served with vanilla ice cream, truly gorgeous. And J had Apple tart in a glass again! Apples at the bottom then toffee then cream, with salted chocolate covered fudge with fudge ice cream, I can't begin to tell you how heavenly this was. I must mention the fabulous view from the restaurant through Main st station down towards the Castle aglow in pink and blue lighting. We also had coffees. The Cost was E172 inc tip but we did receive 20% off with our Dream AP's. A wonderful experience and we will go back again when we have saved up!

The California Grill at DLP is my second favorite restaurant in the world (after the Napa rose at Disney's Grand Californian). This reminded me why!!!

    Love your blog.
